Google anounces Click-to-Call Phone Numbers in Mobile Ads for National Advertisers

20 March 2010 No Comment

This past January, Google announced  a new feature in Google Adwords that will allow advertisers to add a clickable phone number to their mobile ads, thereby making it easier for customers to connect with the local businesses that they are looking for directly by phone. Now, just this week, they have announced that they are expanding the click-to-call phone numbers for all national advertisers. Now Google Adwords advertisers can add a national phone number (called phone extensions) to the last line of ad text for any of their existing or for new campaigns, making it easy for customers to connect with the business by phone directly from the ad, regardless of their location.

This can be especially helpful when you’re trying to connect with the business call center rather than a specific business location. After searching for plumbers, for example, you might want to call to arrange an appointment. Or after searching for car insurance, you could call for a quote. Also, when using your iPhone, Android device, or Palm Pre, you can just click the phone number to call the business without navigating to a new page.

If you’re an advertiser and would like more details about how to add phone extensions to your mobile ads, check out this post Go Mobile! Series: Enhanced click-to-call phone numbers on the Inside AdWords blog for more details.
